A near death experience is a personal experience associated with imminent death, or when people have died and been resuscitated. Although everyone who has a close brush with death or who are resuscitated may not actually experience or report a near death experience.
Near death experiences are in fact very common and affect everyone from different cultures and backgrounds. It affects ‘regular’ ordinary people and are reported by men, women and children regardless of age, nationality, religion, occupation or education level. They are not a new phenomena, and are evident across different cultures and through time.
Those reporting NDE’s describe blurred boundaries relating to space, time and normal perception. Different sensations are heightened and people report seeing themselves leaving the physical body and watching as the scene unfolds beneath them, Reports of people witnessing paramedics trying to resuscitate them and performing medical procedures can be vivid and the person having the NDE can describe every little detail of the scene.
Other common accounts and reports include travelling through a tunnel at a very fast speed, watching a life review, or seeing other events unfolding as if watching a video. Meeting deceased loved ones in a NDE is also a common feature as well as meeting up with deceased pets. A bright light brighter than bright but not blinding is also reported. The light is warm and welcoming and the feeling of unconditional love pours out towards you from within the light.
