Economic Planning Pop!

China is changing. There might still be a bunch of guys with “communist” on their name badges at the top of the table, but the Chinese economy is now one of the great driving forces of the whole global capitalism shebang.

How far China has changed – and how different from a western country it is – is neatly illustrated in one of the strangest pop videos ever. This neat, catchy little piece of propaganda explains everything – including “engineers who deal with poo” – about the country’s new Five Year Plan, and is plainly aimed at American eyes, ears and minds. It’s certainly a step up from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in accessibility if not in sheer power.
